Exercise with Parkinson’s

Supporting Movement, Confidence, and Connection

Living with Parkinson’s can present physical and emotional challenges but staying active is one of the most effective ways to manage symptoms and maintain independence.

At Active Stoke, our Exercise with Parkinson’s programme is designed to support individuals at every stage of their journey with tailored physical activity and a strong sense of community.

What the programme offers:

  • Weekly specialist-led classes
Delivered by trained instructors with experience in neurological conditions, sessions focus on:
    • Cognitive Engagement: Activities that stimulate both body and mind
    • Balance: Targeted exercises to reduce fall risk and improve coordination
    • Strength: Resistance-based movements to support muscle tone and everyday movement
    • Endurance: Cardiovascular exercises to improve stamina
  • Inclusive and adaptable sessions
Exercises are modified to suit individual needs, with options for seated or standing participation. Whether you're newly diagnosed or have been living with Parkinson’s for years, you’ll find a welcoming space to move at your own pace.
  • Social connection and peer support
Each session includes time for conversation and connection, helping to reduce isolation and build friendships. Events like our coffee mornings also offer opportunities to meet others, try new activities, and access wider support services.
