ESCAPE Pain

ESCAPE-Pain is a group-based, NHS England recognised rehabilitation programme for the management of chronic joint pain associated with osteoarthritis of the knee, hip or back. Suitable for anyone over the age of 45 who would benefit from learning simple skills to help self-manage pain and who are able to take part in a progressive exercise programme, designed to improve both physical function whilst also building resilience. 

Who’s if for? 

  • ESCAPE-Pain is suitable for adults aged 45+ who: 
  • Have a clinical diagnosis of osteoarthritis or chronic joint pain affecting the hip/knee or lower back. 
  • Joint pain of at least 3 months duration 
  • Independently mobile and able to participate in a group exercise programme. 
  • Motivated and committed to attending weekly sessions. 
  • It is based on the latest Programme features: 
  • Expert advice and support from a qualified ESCAPE-pain instructor. 
  • Two, one-hour sessions per week for a period of 6-weeks.  
  • Supervised, circuit style exercise tailored to meet your needs.  
  • 12 group-based discussion on self-management and coping strategies including; pacing daily activities, healthy lifestyles and managing flare-ups. 
  • Peer-group support and learning. 
  • Advice and support on how to maintain physical activity habit post programme.

  • Initial 6-week programme (12 sessions): £30 per person

Good Boost

Good Boost is an innovative, technology-enabled therapeutic exercise programme designed to support individuals living with musculoskeletal (MSK) conditions. Whether you're managing arthritis, recovering from joint surgery, or dealing with chronic back pain, Good Boost offers a personalised, low-impact way to improve movement, reduce pain, and boost wellbeing.

Delivered at Dimensions Leisure Centre, the programme uses tablet-based technology to create tailored exercise plans based on your health profile. You can choose between aqua sessions in the pool or land-based sessions in the gym, with options for seated or supported standing exercises. 

Who is it for? 

Good Boost is suitable for adults aged 18+ who: 

  • Have MSK conditions such as arthritis, osteoporosis, osteopenia, joint pain, or back pain 
  • Are clinically stable and able to exercise independently  
  • Are motivated to improve their physical wellbeing 

Programme features: 

  • Personalised Induction: Input your health details into a tablet to generate a custom exercise plan 
  • Aqua Sessions: Held in the pool, ideal for non-swimmers and those needing low-impact movement 
  • Land Sessions: Seated or supported standing options available 
  • Smart Feedback: Rate each session to help the system adapt your plan over time 
  • Expert Support: Friendly instructors are available to guide and encourage you throughout

  • Initial 12-week programme: £2.50 per session 
  • Maintenance sessions: £3 per session (self-hire)
