Membership and Bookings

How do I join Active Stoke?

You can join online via our website or visit any of our centres for assistance.

Can I book online?

Yes! Download the Active Stoke app or use our website to book classes, swimming sessions, and more.

How do I cancel or freeze my membership?

Contact our membership team via email at activestokegymmembership@stoke.gov.uk or phone 01782 234957. Terms and conditions apply.

How can I change my membership?

Simply email the memberships team at activestokegymmembership@stoke.gov.uk

How can I update my contact details and marketing preferences?

You can update these yourself by logging into your leisure account online.

What is my member ID number?

Your membership number will start with the letters SOT and can be found on your membership card or on your leisure account online.

How far in advance can I book a class?

You can book classes 7 days in advance.

Can I cancel or move my booking?

Yes, you can do this via your account on the Active Stoke app or online.

Can I book and pay at the centre?

Absolutely yes! As long as there are spaces available, we are happy to accommodate. Simply visit our friendly reception team on arrival.

I’m having problems setting up my online account or Active Stoke app.

How do I book if I’m not a member?

We have lots of pay as you go members visiting our centres. To get set up, please follow the prompts at Join@Home

Gym and Fitness

Do I need an induction before using the gym?

Yes, all new members must complete an induction for safety and to get the most from your workout.

Are junior gym sessions available?

Yes, we offer supervised sessions for young people. Check your local centre for times.

Swimming

Do I need to book a swim session?

Yes, booking is recommended to guarantee your spot. Use the app or website to book.

What is the difference between leisure or public swim and fitness swim?

Leisure or public swim is open swimming for everyone; fitness is lane swimming for exercise.

Can I bring my child for a swim?

Absolutely! Children must be supervised at all times. Age restrictions apply for certain sessions. Please follow the adult child ratio information on the relevant centre swimming pages.

Is the pool water safe?

Yes, we follow strict water treatment and hygiene standards to ensure safety.

Classes and Activities

How do I find class timetables?

Timetables are available on our website and the Active Stoke app.

Do you offer children’s activities?

Yes, we run a variety of junior classes and holiday programmes.

Accessibility

Do you have facilities for disabled users?

Yes, most centres have accessible parking, changing rooms, and hoists. Contact your centre for details.

Photography and Filming

Can I take photos or videos in the centre?

For privacy reasons, photography and filming are not allowed without prior permission.

Do you have a café?

Some centres have café facilities. Check our website for your local centre details.

Where can I buy swimwear or equipment?

Selected centres sell goggles, swim caps, and other essentials.

Gymnastics

Can babies join a class?

Yes. Our Dinky Dot sessions are suitable for children aged 12 months to 3 years.

Can I bring my other child to the session?

For under-5s classes, a parent or guardian must stay in the gym.

You may bring another child if they remain well-behaved and do not take part in the session.

Please note: babies cannot be left in carriers at the side of the room.

What should my child wear?

Your child should wear comfortable, fitted clothing:

Girls: leggings or shorts with a fitted t-shirt

Boys: shorts or tracksuit bottoms with a t-shirt

Socks are optional.

Can my child try a class for free?

Yes. Contact us to arrange a free trial and we’ll confirm space in the class.

Can my child move up to the next class during the term?

Yes. Children can move up when they reach the appropriate age and a space becomes available.

Class day changes are also possible if spaces allow.

If moving from a 30-minute class (Under 5s) to a 1-hour class (5+), the price difference will apply.

Is there an award scheme?

Yes. Coaches support children in working towards badges and skill development awards.

Can I pay by Direct Debit?

Yes. Direct Debit is available when booking your child’s place.

Are you closed during school holidays?

We close for two weeks at Christmas and on Bank Holidays.

We remain open during the Easter and Summer holidays and run daytime holiday camps.

Will I get a credit if the centre closes due to bad weather?

If the centre closes, you will receive a credit.

If the centre remains open and you choose not to attend, no credit can be given.

Can my child join the competitive groups?

Development and competitive groups are invitation only, based on coach recommendation or a trial period.

My child is nearly 7. Can they join the 7–8 class?

If your child’s birthday is within two weeks of booking, they can join the 7–8 class.

Otherwise, they’ll be placed in the younger age group to ensure appropriate learning and progression.

My child recently had an injury. Can they join a class?

For significant injuries (for example, a broken bone), we require a medical note from your GP confirming they are fit to return.

Please inform the coaches about any injury when your child attends their first class back.

Can we attend a different class this week instead of our usual one?

No. Due to class sizes and availability, we cannot offer one-off session swaps.

Is there a viewing gallery?

Yes. Our viewing gallery overlooks the entire gymnastics arena.

Do I need to stay on site while my child is in class?

No. You’re welcome to use the rest of the facility during your child’s session.
